An Arizona farm that formed from two farmers who fell in love and opened a business, Mortimer Farms got its name in 2006, but the legacy began back in 1996. Gary and Sharla, at that time, ran a nursery and landscaping business that quickly flourished in Prescott. While not fully owning or running their farm, yet, the pair became involved with what is now Mortimer Farms, before it was sold to developers a few years later in 2006. Thankfully, the family was approached to save the land and create an experience for the public, which they wholeheartedly accepted. Leasing the land from 2010 to 2020, the family settled into their farm life while welcoming the public as promised. Finally, in 2020, they were able to purchase the farm!
With a passion for farm-to-table connection and authentic farm activities, and a story like that, this absolutely earns a title as the best pumpkin patch in Arizona! The month long Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze at the farm is said to be for all ages. Mortimer Farms is true to their real-farm-experience with every activity you partake in; you will learn something along the way at every stop. Your experience depends on what day of the week you decide to visit – weekends have a lot more interactive events than weekdays. There is so much to do, but no matter the day you visit, they make it easy to flow through everything from start to finish, especially on weekends, so you won’t miss a thing.
Monday through Thursday, you’ll be able to pick your pumpkins (priced per pound) and find your way in the twisty corn maze. Enjoy games, farm-themed rides like a ropes course, pony rides, zip lines, swings, sand and corn pits, giant jumping pillow, the pond and so much more!! There is also what they call the Animal Encounter which is a way to get up close and personal with cute farm animals by both viewing some and interacting with others. Friday through Sunday, you get all the weekday fun plus the major shows like pig races, trick roping shows, comedy juggling, fire dancing, the tractor parade and the Agriculture Game Show. Some of the major rides will also be open like their hay rides, train rides and an exclusive gem mining experience that is fully immersive! The gem mining experience is an extra cost, as well as the outside vendors who are around on these days. Stick around for the apple cider pressing classes and barn dancing on Friday nights!
Every day you will be able to purchase farm-to-table meals from the farm’s private selection of eats and treats. There are also food vendors on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. With this being said, they do not allow outside food or drinks, except water, so plan and pack accordingly! When you’re ready to visit, you can find ticket and full event details on their festival page here. Mortimer Farms is located in Dewey, AZ at 12907 AZ-169, Dewey, AZ 86327
